Task guide

Publish an article on Squarespace

Last updated

Copy a reviewed draft into your Squarespace blog, publish it there, and record its live address in Onça. No publishing connector is needed.

Before you start

Have a reviewed Blog Studio draft, an existing Squarespace blog page, and permission to publish. These steps cover Squarespace 7.1 on a computer. Onça does not currently publish directly to Squarespace.

For a refresh, open the existing article and keep its address. Creating a second post would split the content across two URLs.

1. Copy your reviewed draft

Open the draft in Blog Studio. Keep the title, body, and meta description ready in a second tab. Copy the body from the editor; if it contains Markdown marks such as ##, remove those when you format it in Squarespace.

If someone else will publish, use the arrow beside Publish to choose a download format for the handoff. The manual publishing guide explains the file choices. A download does not publish to Squarespace.

2. Create the post in Squarespace

  1. Open Pages, select your blog page, and click + in the side panel.
  2. Put the article title in the title field. Paste the body into the new post’s text block.
  3. Use the text tools to format headings, lists, and links. Add images with image blocks and check their alternative text.
  4. Save a draft while you check the content. Open the post settings to review the address, featured image, and SEO fields.
  5. Set the post’s SEO title and description. Save the settings.

Do not paste raw HTML or MDX into a text block. If code or Markdown symbols are visible, replace them with normal text and use the editor’s formatting tools.

3. Review and publish

  1. Preview the article. Check the heading order, links, images, and mobile layout.
  2. When ready, hover over Publish at the top left and click Publish. Saving a draft alone does not make it public.
  3. Open the article’s public URL in a private browser window. Confirm it can be read without signing in, then copy the address.

These platform steps follow Squarespace’s blog publishing guide, which also covers version 7.0. Checked October 15, 2026.

If the article asks visitors to sign in or pay, check its access settings. Use the public article address, not a preview or editor link.

4. Tell Onça where it went live

  1. If you copied the article without downloading, open its draft in Blog Studio and choose Mark as shipped (no file) from the arrow beside Publish.
  2. Open Performance. Find the draft under Where did these go live?
  3. Paste the public URL into Live address. Add the publication date if you know it.
  4. Click Save address and check for any error.

Recording the URL gives Onça an address to match with available Search Console data. Performance results do not appear immediately.
