Task guide
Update page metadata on Wix
Last updated
Before you start
You need access to edit and publish your Wix site, the URL of the page you want to change, and a reviewed title and meta description. This guide covers regular pages in the Wix Editor. Blog posts, store products, and other Wix editors have different settings.
The title is the text used in the browser tab and often in search results. The meta description is a short summary search engines may show below it. Neither is the heading visitors read on the page.
1. Copy your changes from Onça
In Site Audit, find the page by its URL. Review the Title and Meta description fields in the metadata editor. Use Copy beneath each field when you are ready to paste it. Editing these fields in Onça does not update Wix.
2. Update the page in Wix
- Open your site in the Wix Editor.
- Click Pages & Menu on the left.
- Find the page that matches your URL. Open its More Actions menu, then choose SEO basics.
- Paste your title into Title tag (title in search results).
- Paste your description into Meta description (description in search results).
- Check both fields, then click Publish at the top right.
Keep the existing URL for a metadata-only change. Changing the address is a separate task.
These steps follow Wix’s metadata instructions, which also cover other Wix editors. Checked October 15, 2026.
3. Check the live page
Open the public URL in a new tab and check the browser tab title. For a direct check of both values, right-click the page, choose View Page Source, and search for <title and name="description". Compare the text with what you pasted.
If the old values remain, confirm you published the right page and refresh it. Search results can take longer to change, and search engines may choose different text. A changed search snippet is not the completion check.
Can’t find SEO basics? Check which Wix editor and page type you are using in the Wix instructions above. If you cannot publish, ask the site owner for publishing access.
