Task guide
Publish an article without a connector
Last updated
Before you start
You do not need a Wix, WordPress, or GitHub connection in Onça. You do need access to publish on your website, or someone who can publish for you. Review the draft’s facts, links, business claims, and images before handing it over.
Refreshing an existing article? Edit that article at its current URL instead of creating a duplicate post.
1. Get the article out of Blog Studio
- Open your reviewed draft in Blog Studio.
- Open the arrow beside Publish. Choosing an option runs it immediately.
- Choose Download HTML if your website editor accepts HTML, or Download Markdown if your site uses Markdown. Use Download MDX only for a site built to handle MDX. Download PDF is useful for review or handoff.
- Open the downloaded file. Keep the article title and meta description handy for your website’s separate fields.
Downloading records the draft as handed off in Onça. It does not put the article on your website. A PDF download also does not create a web article.
Prefer copying? Copy the article text from the editor into your website, then use Mark as shipped (no file) in the Publish menu when you have handed it over.
2. Add it to your website
- Sign in to your website’s editor and create a blog post, or open the existing article for a refresh.
- Put the article title in the title field. Put the article body in the content area. If the editor does not accept your file format, paste the text and format it with the editor’s heading, list, and link controls.
- Add images using the website’s image tools. Check that they load and add useful alternative text. A downloaded article does not guarantee images have been uploaded to your website.
- Set the SEO title and meta description in the post’s SEO settings. Choose the URL before publishing a new post; keep the existing URL for a refresh.
- Preview on desktop and mobile. Check headings, links, images, and spacing. Remove any repeated title or visible formatting code.
- Publish using your website’s publishing controls.
On Wix, start from Blog in the site dashboard. In WordPress, start from Posts. A code-based site needs its normal review and deployment process; downloading MDX does not deploy it.
Using Squarespace? Follow Publish an article on Squarespace for the specific steps.
For platform details, see Wix’s blog composer guide or WordPress’s editing and publishing guide. Checked October 15, 2026.
3. Check the live article
Open the article’s public address in a private browser window. You should be able to read the whole article without an editor login. Check the images and links one more time. Copy this public URL, not an editor or preview link.
If you only see a preview or a login screen, check that the article is published publicly. If formatting code appears in the article, return to the editor and use the format it supports.
4. Save the live address in Onça
- Return to Blog Studio and open Performance.
- Find the article under Where did these go live?
- Paste the public URL into Live address. Optionally add Date it went live.
- Click Save address. If saving fails, correct the error and try again.
If the draft was abandoned instead, choose It never went live. Do not record a preview URL as published. Search performance needs available Search Console data, so saving the address does not produce immediate results.
