Setup guide
Set up Google Search Console
Last updated
Before you start
Start with a Google account your business controls. Future you will appreciate knowing who has the keys. If someone already manages Search Console for your site, ask them for access to the existing property.
Add and verify your website
Open Google Search Console and add a property. That’s Google’s name for the website, or part of a website, you want to track. A Domain property covers subdomains and protocols and requires DNS verification. A URL-prefix property covers only the exact prefix, including HTTPS and www, and offers other verification methods. Choose the scope that matches your site and follow Google's verification instructions.
Connected? Give the data a little time
Confirm that you can open the property. Keep the verification record or tag in place. If the report looks quiet at first, don’t panic. Search performance can take time to appear, so an empty report doesn’t mean you got the setup wrong. Adding a property does not guarantee indexing or traffic.
Bring the history into Onça
Connect Google using an account with access to the verified website property, select it, and sync its history. Check that the property covers the URLs you want to analyze. Then open your Search Console history and Page Rankings. You’ve got a starting point for deciding what deserves your attention.
