Set up Google Analytics 4

Last updated

Someone found your website. What happened next? GA4 helps you follow the visit. Here’s how to get it ready, independently of Onça.

A quick check before adding anything

Your site may already have Analytics running, especially if someone else built it. Check for an existing GA4 property and Google tag, and ask your site administrator before installing another tag. You need access to your website's settings or tag manager to configure collection.

Create a property and web stream

Open Google Analytics. Create an account if needed, then a GA4 property with the reporting time zone and currency for your business. Add a Web data stream for your website URL. Think of the stream as the route your website’s activity takes into Analytics.

Install and check the tag

Use your website platform's supported Analytics integration, Google Tag Manager, or the Google tag installation instructions. Pick one installation path and stick with it. Adding the same tracking twice can leave you counting the same activity twice. Now visit your website and open Realtime in Analytics. This is the satisfying part: checking whether your visit shows up. Consent settings, blockers, and incorrect tags can affect what appears.

How this relates to Onça

GA4 measures activity on your website; Search Console reports visibility and clicks in Google Search. Neither replaces the other. Onça's current Google connection does not offer GA4 property selection. Set up Analytics directly in Google; it is not a prerequisite for starting with Search Console in Onça.
